Did you know that some women can have an orgasm while exercising? Yes, you read that right. It's called a Coregasm and it's a mix of "core" (nucleus) and "orgasm". I don't know about you, but I want to know more about this...
What is a Coregasm?
A Coregasm occurs when, during certain exercises that intensely involve the core muscles (abdominal and pelvic area), some women experience an orgasm. Although anyone can have a Coregasm, it is much more common among women.
Exercises that can trigger a Coregasm
These are the exercises most commonly associated with unexpected pleasure:
- Crunches: Traditional abdominal exercises, done properly and engaging the muscles involved, can be the culprits of those surprise orgasms.
- Leg Raises: This involves lifting the legs straight towards the torso, creating a 90-degree or less angle at the waist. You can start lying on your back or hang from a bar and lift your feet forward. The latter version is more challenging, but it might work your core intensely enough to make everything shake (and not just from the effort).
- Kegel Exercises: Not core exercises per se, but strengthening the pelvic floor is good for all of us and becomes more appealing if you know how they might end...
- Hip Thrust: This exercise, where you push your hips upwards from a seated position with your back supported, also intensely activates the core and can trigger a Coregasm. Push your limits and reach new heights!
Who is more prone to experiencing a Coregasm?
- Women with good body awareness: If you have a great mind-body connection, you are a candidate. So start by working to ensure your brain can focus and identify which muscles you're using in each exercise. This way, not only will your exercises be more intense and effective, but the chances of a Coregasm increase.
- Fitness level: Women with a regular and intense exercise routine are more susceptible. It's not the first time you've heard that practice makes things easier and more precise...
- Core strength: A strong and well-trained core facilitates the Coregasm. Start with gentler exercises and gradually increase the intensity. A strong core will make you happier in many ways (not just because of the Coregasms, but also).
Studies that support its existence
Yes, this is backed by science. A study by Debby Herbenick and colleagues at Indiana University, published in 2012, revealed that:
- More than 40% of women who experienced exercise-induced orgasms (EIO) did so during abdominal exercises.
- Other exercises include weightlifting, yoga, cycling, and running.
- Many women were not thinking about anything sexual when it happened, suggesting it is a direct physiological response to exercise. Pleasure was hidden in the effort!
The Coregasm shows how exercise can be beneficial not only physically and mentally... Not all women experience it, but I think it's a possibility worth exploring and it adds a dimension I hadn't considered when putting on my workout gear and picking up the dumbbells.
Has this happened to anyone here?
